Every Halloween, a neighbor man dressed up like Frankenstein, and played a record album with scary sound-effects on loud speakers that everyone could hear. The creepy music scared the willies out of us, every year. My sister and I kept a safe distance away, and we watched for Frankenstein to appear at the door and give treats to other kids. It was common knowledge that if you had the courage to knock on his door and say "trick-or-treat,"  you would get the best treats of the whole night: chocolate candy, and maybe even coins. When I was in fifth grade I finally worked up the nerve to knock on his door. I wanted the coins really bad because the gift store had something pretty I wanted to buy for my room. I was so scared that I could feel my heart pounding in my throat. But after Frankenstein put treats in my plastic jack-o-lantern bucket, I was glad I took the risk. I got coins and a handful of the best candy.
